My first camera was a Brownie Instamatic in 3rd grade. In photography classes in high school and college, I loved watching images emerge from the developer, and I loved emerging after a long afternoon like a mole into sunlight. I entertained photography as a career path and had some successes, most notably Runner-Up for the cover of a Sierra Club calendar. Since then, I’ve placed in a few contests and published in a few calendars and periodicals, but mainly I just enjoy it. My greatest satisfaction and delight is observing deeply, paying attention to light and shadow, practicing patience, and seizing opportunities.
